Dr. Jordan Reeves Walker

About Dr. Walker

Dr. Walker believes that to gain achievement, you first must gain attention. She is a motivator of educators, business teams and parents in building relationships, increasing productivity and raising test scores. She has worked with over 2000 schools in the United States after successfully leading her own classrooms of students. She has also worked with business leaders in the United States and Ukraine in time management and team building.

Dr. Walker works with inner city, suburban and urban schools to promote maximum academic time and help teachers and students achieve their goals. Her work is founded upon research-based strategies that help teachers to reduce stress and lift students to reach their potential.

Dr. Walker holds degrees in Journalism, Special Education and Organizational Leadership. Her doctoral research focused on the correlation between noise level in classrooms and numbers of students referred to the office for discipline. The research showed the direct correlation of poorly managed classrooms and referrals to the office.

Further research indicates that test scores suffer when classes are poorly managed and students are removed from learning environment to the office.

Jordan is a national consultant, trained by Dr. Terry Alderman, developer and author of the DISCIPLINE: A TOTAL APPROACH program, emphasizing a positive approach to discipline. She is the author of SUCCESSFUL CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES, and her newest book coming out in February, 2012, INTERVENTIONS THAT WORK WITH HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS.

Dr. Walker offers a number of services that benefit the entire school, including students, teachers and administrators. Among these are her 51 point climate assessment, taken in one full school day. She assesses every area of the school including arrival and dismissal; office and hallways, cafeteria, gym, and special classrooms such as labs; and every classroom within the school. This is offered at $4000 for the day, and a report for an additional fee of $1000 to show areas of strength and areas of need. It is done on a 1 to 5 point Likert scale to .1 of a point. A detailed explanation is given for each score for the 51 points. This assessment is often used in school improvement plans.

Another offering is one or more days working with individual teachers. An extended observation is done, and then the teacher is offered specific strategies that work with specific students, or combination of students during a private conference. Written feedback is given to both teacher and administrator. This is an excellent support tool for those teachers who are new or have a very difficult to manage class. Prices for this service range from $1800 to $3900. As many as 5 teachers can be served in one day.

For those who are already accomplished at observing and do not need a personal visit, Dr. Walker offers fidelity check materials to make observations easy and comprehensive. These are offered as 2 or 3 part forms and are $99 for packs of 25 sets of forms.

If you feel you have the experience to be an educational consultant, and would like to start your own business, Dr. Walker offers you a way to jump start with a complete kit of tools: The Consultant’s Pathfinder. It has letters of introduction, follow up letters to potential clients, forms for observation and climate assessment and instructions about success secrets. Dr. Walker has been a consultant since 1998, and everything you need to get started is in this package. Cost is $1699. If additional training is desired, Dr. Walker will meet with you personally. She suggests that the Consultant Academy offered by Ideas Unlimited Seminars be attended to learn about the business aspects and how to focus ideas to match your offerings. This workshop is held once a year and details can be found at www.ideasulimitedseminars.com
